About your science tutor
This is Vignesh Velmani, a nerdy science tutor with 2+ years of experience in teaching the science with specialization in Biology. I have completed my masters in fisheries science (aquaculture) and so I am strong at zoology and general biology, especially with fishes. Also, I am a researcher so that I can teach you real world applications of science in the ever changing world. I can help you in developing your science knowledge via improving critical thinking and logical reasoning. I will provide you quizzes, presentations and thoughtful interactive sessions which will strengthen your knowledge and confidence in the subject. I believe in science which shapes our globe. I would like to teach the science in most practical and story oriented way. I love to discuss the biology with physics, chemistry, geography and even anthropology. You know what I am a nerdy podcaster who discusses the science for the real world problem. My first and foremost objective of tutoring is to keep the students engage so that he/she can listen me. It would be story telling of the concepts, then it turns into be an interactive session for clearing the doubts. At last, we will summarise the lesson. Let's explore the world of science together with more fun!
Vignesh graduated from Tamil Nadu Dr J Jayalalithaa Fisheries University

The session focused on a case study demonstrating how the Lead Industries Association employed statistical fallacies to misrepresent data and blame parents for lead poisoning, rather than acknowledging the role of lead-based paint. The Tutor presented historical context, explained the deceptive narrative, and highlighted scientific evidence that disproved these claims, leading to policy changes. The student requested the presentation materials and will discuss future class scheduling with their parent.

The session was an introductory demo on Investigation Science, covering scientific integrity and data manipulation. The Tutor and Student discussed the stages of a scientific research pipeline, the motives of various stakeholders, and different ways data can be misrepresented, supported by real-world examples. The Tutor also provided a practical demonstration using an Excel spreadsheet to illustrate data manipulation. Due to technical issues and timing constraints, the Tutor and Student agreed to reschedule a longer follow-up session for more practical applications.
