Robert - Know your tutor
My name is Robert Motter, and I am a Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics tutor. I have satisfactorily helped students in all levels of education. I primarily help High School and College students. I emphasize the importance of understanding the material and being able to apply it to more complicated problems. Being intentional with the formulas and theories you use lead to better outcomes, and I focus on that with my students. I am willing to help you understand whatever you feel you need help with, and I always prioritize understanding and learning over getting the correct answer as soon as possible. I promote a chill learning environment in which students feel comfortable to ask questions no matter how "stupid" they may think those questions are. I definitely understand being intimidated by strict authority figures such as tutors or teachers, and I promise that will not be a concern with me. I teach different levels of math ranging from Pre-Algebra all the way to AP Calculus BC for High School. Those equivalents for college are Calculus II and below (including any sort of remedial math). I also offer Introduction to Statistics. The type of students I tend to attract are those who follow a Pre-Med track, because I am able to assist with a lot of the required classes. However, I am willing to help students of any background and welcome all. I am looking forward to working with you!

Mathematics concepts taught by Robert
The Student and Tutor reviewed and solved various biochemistry problems, focusing on DNA structure, stability, thermodynamics, molecular interactions, and protein-DNA binding. They covered concepts like hypochromic effect, melting temperature, dimerization, effects of cations, and thermodynamic principles. They also analyzed specific examples of amino acid membrane permeability and viral nucleic acid composition.

Diverse Forces in DNA-Protein Interactions
ATP Hydrolysis: Energy Yield and Reaction Products
Identifying RNA and Analyzing its Structure
The Student and Tutor reviewed the student's recent exam performance and introduced new material on viruses. They covered foundational concepts of virology, including viral structure, genome types, replication cycles, and specific examples like HPV, Influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and HIV. The session involved a detailed explanation of each virus's life cycle and mechanisms of action, preparing the Student for upcoming coursework.

Student and Tutor reviewed core biochemistry concepts related to DNA structure, stabilization, and denaturation, including various intermolecular forces. They then worked through several homework problems, practicing the application of these concepts to scenarios involving membrane permeability, DNA cruciform structures, tautomerization, histone acetylation, and DNA unwinding mechanisms. They also scheduled a follow-up session to prepare for the Student's upcoming exam.

Student and Tutor reviewed key concepts from five microbiology chapters in preparation for an upcoming exam. The session focused on historical figures, foundational experiments (like spontaneous generation and germ theory), and core microbial characteristics and processes. They practiced multiple-choice questions from the course's learning materials to solidify understanding and plan to continue regular sessions.

Microbial Metabolic Strategies
The session focused on key biochemistry concepts, including a detailed explanation of the hydrophobic effect and a review of DNA structure, purines/pyrimidines, and the structural differences between DNA and RNA. Student and Tutor practiced applying pH and pKa relationships to determine amino acid ionization states and calculated the isoelectric point for lysine. They also discussed intermolecular forces in solubility and factors affecting membrane permeability. The Student mentioned struggling with physics and plans to share notes for future review.

The Student and Tutor reviewed the second half of Chapter 4, focusing on bacterial cell structures and Gram staining, and began covering Chapter 5, which deals with bacterial nutrition and growth. They clarified complex topics such as DNA processes, metabolic pathways, and environmental factors affecting bacteria. The Student is expected to send the first three chapters' slides for the upcoming exam review session.
