Teaching AP English involves helping students develop advanced reading, writing, and reasoning abilities that prepare them for college-level work. My role is to guide students in examining texts carefully, understanding deeper meanings, and recognizing how authors use language to communicate ideas effectively. Students work with a range of materials such as novels, short stories, essays, and poetry, which allows them to explore different writing styles and perspectives. I focus on teaching students how to organize their thoughts, create strong thesis statements, and support their ideas with clear evidence. I also train them to write different types of essays, including analytical, argumentative, and synthesis essays, which are essential components of the AP exam. Through regular practice, feedback, and discussion, students gradually improve their confidence and accuracy. My teaching approach encourages active participation, independent thinking, and open communication. I aim to create a positive environment where students feel motivated to express their opinions and challenge themselves academically. Ultimately, my goal is to equip students with the skills they need not only to succeed in the AP exam but also to become effective readers, writers, and critical thinkers in their future education.
