I am an English teacher focused on helping students use English naturally rather memorizing grammar rules.

Good day and thank you for the opportunity to be here. My name is Jimmy dela Cruz, and I’m currently working part-time at Bizmates Philippines for 5 years now as an ESL teacher I have a lot of experience communicating, helping my students who are mostly professionals how to be better in English. I believe that it's important to adapt my teaching approach to the student's ability and commitment. In addition, I always show that I'm just as excited as the student so that we are going to have a good teacher-student relationship. Before joining this ESL industry, I was a businessman where I also had a lot of experience dealing with different kinds of people. I’m really excited about this opportunity because it aligns with my passion for teaching and I see it as a great opportunity to grow and contribute to your team. When it comes to my teaching approach I really like to tailor to the individual students' needs. I believe that every student has varying levels and I'd like to know them and tailor my classes to what works well for them. When I'm teaching online, I’ve found that the most impactful way to drive student achievement is by moving away from being the source of knowledge to them and instead becoming a facilitator of learning. In my experience, if I just hand a student a fact, a lesson in grammar for example, they might remember it for the review test temporarily, but if I hand them a problem and the tools to solve it, they’ll remember the reasoning for a longer time. For me, this approach is about more than just getting the results, about mirroring how the world actually works. I’m giving my students the actual ways and mental tools they’ll need to be independent thinkers especially in English. I want them to finish the lessons knowing that even if they don't have the answer right away, they have the skills to go out and find it.
