Your ACT tutor - Christopher
Dr. Christopher Robbins, with credentials in education and instructional presentation, has presented ACT test preparation for over 20 years. He has been a college professor, a high school and middle school teacher, a 8-12 school principal, and a tutor (both in-person and online). He is a growth teacher, pushing his pupils to internalize material not just learn facts. Specific areas of expertise include ACT Reading Strategies, ACT Grammar and Punctuation, Writing Development for testing and college-level coursework, Reading Analysis, and Speech creation and delivery. I tailor sessions to individual growth needs and can present most topics with supplemental materials with little prep time. Parents are welcome to be on screen with pupils with questions because learning is not an isolated, one-individual happening. I look forward to the opportunity to help you pursue your educational endeavors.

Teaching methodology
My online tutoring approach focuses on growth by focusing on student metacognition. I teach the mind how to integrate prior knowledge with new information so that the brain can retain the necessary concepts in active memory through concept reviews, tailored tasks, and questioning. This is particularly helpful for ACT Reading, ACT English, and ACT Writing (as my district currently uses my frameworks in all of its ACT Preparation Courses), but metacognition is applicable to any writing or speaking assignment for any course; therefore, I offer tutoring in essay development, from conceptualization, outlining, researching, writing, and editing. I teach the Metacognitive Writing Method (TM) so that students can compose essays with more confidence and in less time. With a little practice, students can create research papers in a practical time.
