Your english tutor - Tiffany
I'm Tiffany Lingo, an experience and licensed high school English teacher. I have a BA and MA in English Education, both with focuses on writing pedagogy. During my time in graduate school, I taught College Composition, a guaranteed transfer undergraduate course. Since getting my MA, I have been teaching in the public school system to grades 8-10, focusing on honor and advanced English. I have been supporting writers and readers in many ways for almost a decade; my method of individualized lessons and support creates a unique tutor experience for every student, no matter their needs. I cater to a diverse range of students, as I have taught many different types and levels of students with a variety of different needs. From research essays to reading comprehension, from creative writing to literary analysis, and from visual media to speeches, I am comfortable supporting students.

English classes quick guide
I’ve come to see myself as a student, which is the opposite of where I thought I’d be toward the end of my education. I expected to see myself as an expert, an adult, and most importantly an educator; however, what I have come to believe is that I am all of those roles-and a student-all the time. My education is never truly over. This has created a philosophy of a growth mindset in my classrooms, being fueled by students’ background knowledge and an encompassing classroom of learning. This growth philosophy applies to me as well, as I should be learning daily. My teaching will never be perfect, there will always be room for improvement. Cindy O'Donnell Allen and Antero Garcia in their book Pose Wobble Flow encourage the idea of wobbling, or struggling, within the classroom because it creates opportunity. They wrote, "Like yoga practitioners, teachers who are committed to professional growth also take up stances (or poses) toward their practice, and reflect on areas in which they wobble with the intent on attaining flow" (Allen and Garcia 3). Without embracing the moments of wobble I cannot encourage my students to do the same; thus, in my teaching I must model this growth mindset.
