Your english tutor - Melissa
I’m an opera singer currently completing my final semester from my Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance (graduating in JAN 2026) and a passionate ESL (English second language) teacher with over 4 years of experience teaching and tutoring learners of all ages (Kids, teens, and adults) in both online and classroom settings. As an ESL teacher, I focus on real-life communication: speaking, discussion, and conversation are at the heart of my lessons. I believe that language comes alive when it’s used in meaningful ways, so I often incorporate game-based learning, pronunciation practice (using my knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet), and writing support to make learning practical and enjoyable. Whether you want to improve your fluency, polish your accent, or build confidence in expressing yourself, I can guide you every step of the way. Beyond teaching, I am a professional singer trained in opera, pop, classical singing, musical theatre, and jazz. I’ve had the honor of performing opera roles such as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Concepción in Ravel’s L’heure espagnole, and Theodora in Handel’s Theodora, as well as participating in numerous concerts as both a soloist and choir member. This unique combination of music and teaching allows me to bring creativity, expression, and a strong ear for sound into my language lessons, helping students to not only learn English, but also speak it with confidence and clarity. I’d love to support you on your language, or singing journey (or even blend music/languages into your learning if that inspires you!). Let’s make learning dynamic, personalized, and fun.

English classes quick guide
My teaching approach is centered on real-life communication. I want my students to feel confident using English in meaningful situations. I use conversation based and discussion driven activities to encourage natural speaking, while also incorporating game-based learning to make lessons engaging and interactive. With my knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), I place a special focus on pronunciation and accent clarity, helping students sound more fluent and confident. I also provide guidance in writing skills, ensuring learners can express themselves effectively in both spoken and written English. Above all, my goal is to create a practical, supportive, and enjoyable learning experience where students can grow step by step. As a singing teacher, my approach is rooted in the voice–body connection. I believe that a healthy voice begins with awareness, so I guide my students to truly feel and recognize what healthy phonation sounds and feels like. Developing this awareness allows singers to build a strong, sustainable technique that supports them across all styles. I place great importance on creating a safe and supportive environment where students can explore their voices while protecting their vocal health. I also love to listen to my students’ preferences (Whether that’s opera, pop, jazz, or musical theatre) and help them work on genres, pieces, and songs that inspire them. My goal is to balance artistic expression with a responsible, healthy, and holistic approach to singing, so that every student not only sings beautifully but also feels confident, empowered, and connected to their instrument.
