Hi there! I'm Hailey Campbell, an English tutor who specializes in AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, and English. My teaching philosophy focuses on student-centered learning. I love helping students take ownership of their learning experience. As the facilitator, it is my job to provide a safe and dynamic space for learning to empower my students to engage and explore. Currently, I am completing my 18th year as a full-time college English instructor. Prior to teaching at the post-secondary level, I taught high school English for several years. I have been working in the English field for over 20 years, and I love it! I have experience with all levels of learners, whether they're in school, college, or professionals. I believe in student-centered tutoring, in which I personalize lessons and feedback to empower each individual. Some of the strategies I employ are interactive brainstorming, open-ended questions for student-based discussions, reader-response theory, and collaborative writing assignments. In addition, I frequently rely on peer reviews, which help students recognize strengths and weaknesses in both their classmates' writing and their own. When providing feedback, I always begin with the strengths of the submission before providing suggestions. Ultimately my goal is to facilitate academic success by supplying the student with tools he or she can personalize for future use.
