About the tutor

Hi I'm Emma… I’ve been teaching the Violin for over 20 years to students of all ages and abilities with some fantastic results! I have a Music Teaching Degree specialising in String Teaching which I completed in 2001. I like to include a variety of activities in my lessons and draw my inspiration from the Kaleidoscopes Teaching Method which uses elements of the Suzuki, Kodaly and Montessori methods of education. I believe in a student-centered approach to learning focusing on building a strong foundation while keeping lessons engaging and interactive for students of all levels. As a Violin Teacher I believe in my engaging, collaborative, creative, adaptable, and supportive teaching methodology. I cater to all levels of students by personalising lessons based on their requirements in order to progress easily on their instrument. I focus on developing technical skills while also encouraging creativity through improvisation and developing the musical ear. My goal is to help students play naturally and with great ease so that they can really enjoy playing - not only learning the violin but also developing their musical knowledge and skills to become a well-rounded musician.
