I am Rebecca, a language enthusiast with a Master’s in Modern Languages and Translation. Arabic is my mother language, French is my first foreign language followed by English. I spent four years falling in love with Spanish at the Instituto de Cervantes, and during lockdown, I dabbled in Russian because why not? Drawing from my experience as a medical interpreter and a decade of working with the United Nations as a refugee interpreter, I have observed how miscommunication can hinder access to essential services and prevent individuals from expressing their needs. This has deeply influenced my teaching approach, as I understand how vital language proficiency is in breaking down barriers and empowering individuals. I get it — Learning a language can be a challenge, but that is exactly why I am here. I absolutely love seeing those "aha!" moments when things finally click for my students. By breaking down material into digestible parts and revisiting it from different angles, I help students internalize what they have learned. This approach ensures that by the end of each session, students walk away with confidence in their retention, ready to apply their new knowledge in real-world situations.
