About your tutor
I am Vikramaditya Shah Bundela, an architect specialising in architectural design, conservation, and AI integration. With experience across three firms, I have developed diverse skills, from designing and preserving structures to training AI models for architectural applications. Teaching is a passion of mine—I have mentored students and professionals worldwide, both independently and through an architecture education startup. I am proficient in 11+ design tools, including Revit, SketchUp, Rhino 3d, and Autocad Architecture, Photoshop, InDesign, Lumion, D5 Render, Twinmotion and more. I focus on optimising architectural workflows using AI. My dissertation explored AI-driven design automation, and I continue to push the boundaries of technology in the AEC industry. I know 50+ AI tools and always strive to teach the easiest workflow possible.

Class overview
My teaching methodology is centred around interactive, two-way engagement, where I encourage students to actively participate and share their insights—I often learn from them as well. I believe in project-based learning and teach accordingly. I think that students should learn by doing and not just watching tutorials. I focus on teaching the most efficient and optimised workflows for architectural software, ensuring students gain practical expertise that enhances their professional capabilities. My approach emphasises hands-on learning, catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced professionals. I challenge students to push their boundaries, refine their skills, and strive for excellence. Teaching is a continuous learning experience for me, and my passion lies in exploring emerging tools and innovations that shape the future of architectural design.

Architecture concepts taught by Vikramaditya Shah
The student and tutor worked on converting scanned PDF drawings into editable AutoCAD files. They explored various conversion methods, including online tools and importing as raster images for manual tracing. The tutor also demonstrated how to recreate a complex symbol and assisted in troubleshooting the retrieval of a lost AutoCAD file.
PDF to DWG Conversion Challenges
Raster vs. Vector Geometry Import
Manual Symbol Recreation in AutoCAD
AutoCAD Temporary File Recovery
The student and tutor worked on advanced CAD techniques for landscaping design, focusing on creating a rock bed by manipulating curves and importing external blocks. They also explored using AI for design visualization and planned to transition to 3D modeling in SketchUp in the next session.
Object Manipulation and Editing in CAD Software
Importing and Utilizing External CAD Blocks
Applying and Modifying Textures and Styles
Utilizing AI for Design Visualization
The Tutor and Student worked on refining architectural design concepts for a viaduct retrofit project, focusing on collage development and spatial zoning. They discussed floor plan strategies, visitor circulation, and the integration of sustainable and educational elements within the design, with plans to focus on floor plan sketching and iteration.
Design Process: Iteration and Workflow
Materiality and Exhibition Design
Collage as a Design Communication Tool
Retrofit Architecture and Adaptive Reuse
Spatial Zoning and Circulation
The tutor and student worked on refining CAD drawing skills, focusing on object manipulation, layering, and precise drawing techniques. They practiced joining fragmented objects, managing layers, using selection tools, and applying advanced commands like the curve tool, offset, and fillet. The session concluded with an introduction to blocks and editing their properties, and plans were made to practice creating objects from scratch in future sessions.
Joining Objects and Creating Polylines
Selection Techniques and Window Types
Layer Management and Object Visibility
Using the Curve Tool (CV) vs. Arc Tool
Blocks: Reusable Design Elements
The tutor and student worked on refining a 3D cabinet model in SketchUp, focusing on advanced techniques for adding thickness to surfaces, creating offsets, and importing/scaling pre-made components. They also discussed practical aspects of cabinet design, such as creating a base and incorporating visual elements like drawers and flip-down fronts.
3D Warehouse & Model Integration Challenges
Component Instance & Uniqueness
Perspective vs. Parallel Projection
Push/Pull Tool & Option Key
Transparency Mode (K key)
The tutor guided the student through advanced architectural design concepts, including space programming, the use of computational design tools like Finch, Rhino, and Revit plugins, and the importance of building codes. They also discussed innovative approaches to integrating new structures with existing ones and the need for comprehensive data collection for area programming, recommending relevant handbooks.
