Class overview
My teaching methodology is centred around interactive, two-way engagement, where I encourage students to actively participate and share their insights—I often learn from them as well. I believe in project-based learning and teach accordingly. I think that students should learn by doing and not just watching tutorials. I focus on teaching the most efficient and optimised workflows for architectural software, ensuring students gain practical expertise that enhances their professional capabilities. My approach emphasises hands-on learning, catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced professionals. I challenge students to push their boundaries, refine their skills, and strive for excellence. Teaching is a continuous learning experience for me, and my passion lies in exploring emerging tools and innovations that shape the future of architectural design.

Architecture concepts taught by Vikramaditya Shah
The Student and Tutor worked on refining a Revit architectural model, focusing on fixing roof geometry, adjusting floor levels, and ensuring airtight connections between elements using specialized cutting tools. They also installed and discussed the application of various energy analysis plugins for future assessments. Follow-up tasks include further model tightening, strategic window placement, and initiating the energy optimization setup.

Efficient Revit Sketching & Joining Techniques
The Student and Tutor worked on refining a SketchUp 3D model of a floor plan, focusing on correcting scaled dimensions and adjusting wall thicknesses. They practiced precisely drawing interior walls using line and push-pull tools, incorporating axis locking for accuracy. The Student was assigned to continue building interior walls and to consider starting the top floor for practice.

Model Setup & Scaling for Accuracy
The Tutor guided the Student through the process of importing and scaling a floor plan image in SketchUp, explaining how to convert PDFs to images for use. They practiced drawing 3D walls to specific dimensions using the line and push-pull tools, including advanced techniques for continuous wall creation and turning corners. The Student was assigned to complete the outer walls as homework and share their progress via a link for follow-up.

The Student and Tutor worked on resolving critical modeling issues in a Revit architectural project. They focused on correctly setting up levels, refining the topo solid for proper building integration, and establishing accurate wall constraints and attachments. The Student was assigned to fix wall heights and constraints in the basement area of their model.

The Student and Tutor worked on setting up and running energy and carbon emissions analysis for a student accommodation design using Autodesk Revit. They reviewed and identified several modeling issues in the Student's Revit file that need to be corrected for accurate analysis. The Tutor demonstrated how to interpret carbon insights data and set various building and system parameters for sustainable design, assigning the Student to fix the model and research the analytical settings.
