About your tutor
I am Vikramaditya Shah Bundela, an architect specialising in architectural design, conservation, and AI integration. With experience across three firms, I have developed diverse skills, from designing and preserving structures to training AI models for architectural applications. Teaching is a passion of mine—I have mentored students and professionals worldwide, both independently and through an architecture education startup. I am proficient in 11+ design tools, including Revit, SketchUp, Rhino 3d, and Autocad Architecture, Photoshop, InDesign, Lumion, D5 Render, Twinmotion and more. I focus on optimising architectural workflows using AI. My dissertation explored AI-driven design automation, and I continue to push the boundaries of technology in the AEC industry. I know 50+ AI tools and always strive to teach the easiest workflow possible.

Class overview
My teaching methodology is centred around interactive, two-way engagement, where I encourage students to actively participate and share their insights—I often learn from them as well. I believe in project-based learning and teach accordingly. I think that students should learn by doing and not just watching tutorials. I focus on teaching the most efficient and optimised workflows for architectural software, ensuring students gain practical expertise that enhances their professional capabilities. My approach emphasises hands-on learning, catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced professionals. I challenge students to push their boundaries, refine their skills, and strive for excellence. Teaching is a continuous learning experience for me, and my passion lies in exploring emerging tools and innovations that shape the future of architectural design.

The Tutor and Student discussed various strategies for making a building design more sustainable, focusing on material selection, energy systems, and analytical tools. They explored the use of crop waste-derived wall panels, geothermal heating, and other efficient technologies. The plan for the next session includes analyzing the Student's existing Revit model to quantify current energy performance and subsequently implement sustainable changes.
Sustainable Material Selection Principles
AI Tools for Architectural Detailing & Visualization
BIM Object & Revit for Sustainable Design Workflow
Advanced Sustainable Heating & Cooling Systems
The Environmental Impact of Stubble Burning
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) & Sustainable Wall Panels
The Student and Tutor initiated work on an architecture project re-submission, specifically focusing on improving architectural detailing and comprehensive carbon footprint calculations. They discussed strategies for extracting relevant data from Revit for an Excel-based carbon calculator and enhancing overall project analysis and presentation as per the brief's requirements.
Architectural Detailing for Material Assembly
Embodied Carbon Calculation via Excel Workflow
Material Provenance and Sustainable Selection
Documenting Design Progression and Analysis
The Tutor provided an extensive introduction to the SketchUp interface and fundamental tools, explaining various panels such as Entity Info, Components, Instructor, 3D Warehouse, Materials, Styles, Tags, Model Info, and Display settings. The Student practiced core actions including object selection, push/pull with modifier keys, moving, and understanding 3D axes. For homework, the Student will provide a PDF project file to import and begin modeling in the next session.

Model Information Panels & Organization
Object Manipulation & Modifier Keys
Understanding 3D Axes & Precision Drawing
External Resources & Workflow Best Practices
The Student and Tutor practiced drawing a complex symbol in AutoCAD, focusing on precise dimensioning and the application of fundamental commands. They used `Line`, `Circle`, `Trim`, `Offset`, `Fillet`, `Mirror`, and `Extend` to construct and refine the drawing. Future sessions will prioritize dedicated practice on individual commands to enhance the Student's proficiency.
AutoCAD Navigation & Object Snaps
The Importance of Consistent Practice and Command Bar Interaction
`MIRROR` Command for Symmetrical Duplication
`FILLET`
`TRIM`
and `EXTEND` for Refining Drawings
`OFFSET` Command for Parallel Geometry
Precision Drawing with Length and Angle Input
The class focused on optimizing the Student's SketchUp workflow for a furniture design project. The Student and Tutor troubleshooted issues with the Open Cut List plugin, learning to properly define dimensional lumber for accurate cutting diagrams. The session concluded with the Tutor introducing several advanced SketchUp plugins and demonstrating Enscape for realistic rendering, with plans for the Student to learn these tools in future sessions after their current build is complete.
SketchUp Version & Plugin Management
OpenCutList for Dimensional Lumber
Installing SketchUp Extensions (RBZ Files)
Profile Builder Extension
Lattice Maker Extension
Enscape for Realistic Visualization (Rendering)
The tutor and student worked on material assignment and costing within a 3D modeling software, focusing on the accurate generation of parts lists. They practiced applying materials to individual objects and components and discussed troubleshooting dimension inaccuracies and material rendering. Future work involves the student applying these concepts to their project and further refining material assignments.
